What was that!?!

So this weekend we had 2 Christmas parties. Actually. There were 3. The first was on Friday night for the CPC staff Christmas Fiesta. Sarah had to work late so we were in a bit of a rush to get there before the party ended. During our travels Sarah was retelling a story from her day. At one point she made an emphatic sound at the very same time a piece of metal shot up from the road and rattled around in our tire well making an aweful noise. Sarah and I both jumped, remained on the road and found no change in the car’s behavior….

…until about 15 minutes later when the car started shuddering. As we pulled over, we had a pretty good feeling of what was going on. We had ourselves a flat tire. Fortunately for me, however, Sarah has actually changed a tire in her life (several, in fact) and was able to share her knowledge with her un-educated husband who knows little of such affairs.

Thankfully, the weather was cooperative, not too cold, and we were able to finish the job promptly. We (slowly; not to exceed 50mph) made our way to the party with time to spare. Afterwards, we traveled the back roads home as much as we could to avoid embarrasment of having to drive on the highway as the slowest car around.

On Saturday (after dropping the car off for a tire repair), we made our way to Chez DJ Brunch for a Christmas Cookie Party. Although not nearly as life-threatening as getting a flat tire while careening down the highway, it was a much more delicious adventure.

From there, we made our way to Paula’s house (good childhood friend of Sarah) for a little Christmas get-together. Surprisingly, there were quite a few of Sarah’s graduating class there that Sarah was able to catch up with. All-in-all it was a fun and exciting weekend.
